Always Do the Right Thing
Always Do the Right Thing. In our quest to accomplish our goals, and our haste to get it all done, can we remember why we are doing it? If we accomplish all our goals but leave people we dealt with along the way hurt, poor, or bitter for us having touched their lives – what good is it? We are not responsible for all others, but if we hurt people in doing good for ourselves – it’s a sign that what we are doing isn't right. Do it right.

Not sure i agree with this interpretation of the saying. My view is it means to do the right thing irregardless of the pressures to do other things- some of these pressures may involve upsetting people.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer the slightly longer form:
"The right thing to do is always the right thing to do"
Thanks Richard for giving me a new catchphrase. "The right thing to do is always the right thing to do" will be my new staple.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people stress goal setting without introducing the concept of ecology. Some goals if attained carry a cost to ourselves and those around us. In pursuit of our goals we can miss the costs we are paying and will have to pay for it. If we consider the costs before we start, would we still strive for that goal?
